I am planning to use methamphetamine with another drug. What can the consequences be?
Combining different drugs can be extra risky and unpredictable. If you combine, you are more likely to have problems with your health. Here we describe the effects and risks of a number of combinations that are common or that are very risky. For more information, check the theme of combination use.
Methamphetamine is regularly used during sex. Read more about drugs and sex.
Methamphetamine and XTC, amphetamine or cocaine
The combination of crystal meth with XTC, amphetamine or cocaine puts extra pressure on the heart and blood vessels and can exhaust the body even more. The hangover is often worse than the hangover from the individual drugs. Methmphetamine counteracts the love effect of ecstasy. With this combination you increase the risk of brain damage (it could be that methamphetamine increases the brain damage caused by MDMA). This combination also increases the risk of overheating and the combination of ecstasy and methamphetamine increases the risk of serotonin syndrome.
Methamphetamine and alcohol
Because methamphetamine makes you feel more awake and fitter, you can drink a lot alcohol more without feeling very drunk. However, the hangover the day after will be huge, because you have drunk more than you normally could. If you often use alcohol and methamphetamine at the same time, it can be more difficult to stop taking methamphetamine.
This combination can also lead to (extremely) aggressive behavior more quickly. The chance that you will act rash or reckless increases.
Methamphetamine and GHB
This is a combination of an upper with a downer, just like with alcohol. Your body is receiving opposing signals. The methamphetamine keeps you awake a little longer on doses of GHB that you normally pass out, so it can make you pretty vague. But if you still pass out the consequences will be a lot more complex medically. GHB may mitigate the stimulant effects of methamphetamine. If the methamphetamine starts to wear off and there is still enough GHB in your body, you can still pass out and also become more unconscious. Furthermore, it can make you very horny and that can be great, but also result in situations that you regret because you do things that you really didn’t want to do.
Methamphetamine and Antidepressants
If you’re depressed, it’s not a good idea to take methamphetamine anyway. Combining it with an antidepressant can lead to a dangerous rise in blood pressure. If you’re taking an old class of antidepressants called MAO inhibitors, it’s very dangerous to take methamphetamine, your blood pressure can rise dangerously and you have an increased risk of serotonin syndrome.
Methamphetamine and cannabis
Some users take weed after taking methamphetamine to help them calm down or fall asleep. Weed can actually make you anxious and restless.
Methamphetamine with poppers and viagra
This combination can lead to heart failure.
